In a series of four panels featuring 16 esteemed presenters, Forum participants tackled the complex or “wicked” problems faced by cities around the world.
These include including rapidly growing populations, climate change, crumbling infrastructure and declining resources, as well as ongoing challenges such as transportation, buildings and energy.
Discussions focused on innovative solutions that will create sustainable cities and a greener economy in the future.

Keynote Address by Jeremy Rifkin
Jeremy Rifkin is the founder and president of The Foundation on Economic Trends, a non-profit organization that examines emerging trends in science and technology and their impacts on culture, the environment, economy and society. He has lectured at leading universities and corporations throughout the world, and has written 17 bestselling books including his latest effort, The Empathic Civilization. As a top advisor for the European Union over the past decade, Rifkin has been the principle architect of the EU's “Third Industrial Revolution,” a long-term economic sustainability plan to address the triple challenge of the global economic crisis, energy security and climate change.
